New tools for the aluminum metallurgy: from the operating choices to Athena, the new aluminum quality control software
Vicenza, February 19th, 2010
The conference, organized in collaboration with the Department of “Tecnica e Gestione dei Sistemi Industriali”, University of Padua, with Foseco Foundry Division Vesuvius Italia and with the metallurgist Andrea Manente, will deal with different aspects of the aluminum metallurgy.
Starting from the alloys selection methods to be used in foundry according to the kind of process and problems that the foundryman can encounter, then the discussion will focus on the treatments to which the metal can be subjected in order to improve its performances in terms of properties and workability.
After having examined the effect that the different choices of alloys and treatments can have on the aluminum physics, the discussion will focus on the thermal analysis tool, which is offered to foundries by the metallurgical research and the recent technologies and which has the important function of monitoring with a greater precision the variables which affect the melting process, tracking its course.

In such a context, the second part of the conference will be devoted to the presentation of Athena, the new software for the aluminum quality control based on thermal analysis. It is an innovative product with a very competitive price, conceived and realized by our company, again in collaboration with the Department of “Tecnica e Gestione dei Sistemi Industriali”, University of Padua, with Foseco Foundry Division Vesuvius Italia and with Andrea Manente.
The software, tested in more foundries during its development, is grounded on the use of the most advanced information technologies. Only with some clicks and in few minutes, Athena gives an estimation of the structural characteristics of the metal and gives useful information to improve the control of the melting process in all its stages, which is the key factor for every production economy.
The conference will take place in Vicenza, c/o the Aula Magna of the “Tecnica e Gestione dei Sistemi Industriali” Department, Università degli Studi of padua, Stradella San Nicola, 3 (entrance also from Contra' Barche, 40/42), tel.: +39 0444 998743 (ref. Ing. G. Timelli).
The participation to the conference is free, but subject to attendants’ registration. The registration shall be sent within February 9th, 2010, filling the on-line registration form. (click here to go to the registration form).
