ITACA was born 20 years ago as a thermal analysis software and has evolved continuously over time. ITACA today is an open 4.0 project that brings together machines and systems, new sensors, management software, latest generation algorithms and, from 2021, also consumables. All these components work together to achieve few clear objectives:

  • Minimize the physical / chemical variance of the metal from furnace charge to pouring;
  • Track all the critical parameters to control the processes;
  • Integrate, analyse and process the data to improve the forecasting capabilities of the system;
  • Make the know-how usable and share it with all interested parties in the foundry by adapting the language and communication to the user.

Each component of the ITACA family (control software, dispensers, cored wire stations, scales, metal transport, vision systems, consumables) is autonomous and independent but, when connected to the ITACA network, it gives its best as it uses data and information coming from different sources to make decisions and produces, in turn, new data and information thus creating a virtuous circle.

ITACA is a unique project in the world that in 2023 involves 50 metallurgical, mechanical, electronic, IT engineers and computer vision experts, sometimes focused on large projects and sometimes focused on infinitesimal details, but always with the same few and clear objectives in mind.
